cK Goes To Rupee Concert

CrazyK and Anita check out the concert!

My friend Anita drove all the way up from San Diego to see me in Los Angeles so we could hit the Rupee concert together. It was happening at the Monte Cristo Nightclub --- also known as Club Footsteps. A really cool hidden venue that plays reggae and calypso. Just the music I was missing in this town!

Admission was $20, and once we entered the place wasn't too packed. I guess because we got there kinda early. I got my usual HPNOTIQ, and then Anita and I went straight to the front of the stage to get a good place before more people came.

Before we even knew it, the place got packed quick! Luckily our front of the stage spots were secured. A dj came out to hype up the crowd before Atlantic Records recording artist, Rupee hit the stage. He played some good vibes and made us all hyped up. As I looked behind me, all I could see was a sea of females... with one or two guys dashed in between. Boy... I tell you... when the MC introduced Rupee to be coming out soon....I lost some of my hearing to the shrieking of girls screaming their lungs out.

Then... Rupee did come out to a resounding cheer. He had the crowd singing word for word all of his tunes. I have to admit, he was entertaining. The females around me couldn't have enough. Anita was smiling big. I don't think the pictures show how close I really was to the artist himself. He was literally standing in front of me... so close his microphone wire was bopping me in my head. I don't think I could ever be this close at a concert venue -- this little club totally had an intimate experience!

After his performance, Rupee's road manager gave out 8x10 comps, where Rupee was autographing them. Anita got an autograph after squeezing in through the other people cramming for them. It was a good show... and I'm glad I went!
