Cousin Tricia & Sabrina visit cK!

Papa John's Pizza and clubbing in Santa Monica.

My cousin, Tricia and her best friend, Sabrina flew down from the winter wonderland of Toronto to hang out with me in sunny California. They arrived in the morning where my roomate, Alex and I were waiting for them. Their plane was delayed for a bit so Alex and I had some hot chocolate and a little snack while we waited for their flight to come in. When they finally arrived at the terminal, it was a flurry of hugs and smiles.

We went back to the apartment where the clouds rolled in and it started to rain a little bit. The weather forecast predicted rain all week. While Alex went to work, the girls and I relaxed. We then got hungry. So we went outside and picked up 3 pizzas from Papa Johns. We brought them back to the apartment where we chilled and watched some tv.

Planning where we were going to go that night, my roomate, Dan and his friend visiting from England, Merv, wanted to go to Zanzibar where they were playing some nice beats. I know that my cousin wouldn't come all this way for mellow beats. She wanted to dance up a storm. So we searched around for clubs online and found this place called GOTHAM CITY located in Santa Monica. My roomates were set on going to Zanzibar, but we were set on going to a place that was playing some reggae and dance vibes. So we got all dressed...

Then we headed out to Gotham City. It was raining outside and it was about a 7 minute walk south of Wilshire down the 3rd Street Promenade. When we got there, we noticed that there wasn't much of a line. We walked into the club and found out that there wasn't anybody taking money for the $10 cover... so we bolted to the center and then calmly walked towards the bar. I got an incredible Hulk to start the night out. Apparently my cousin Tricia had never had that before, so I shared it with her. Sabrina asked for a rum and coke... I have to tell you, the bartender really hooked up these drinks. My drink was perfectly mixed. Sabrina's rum and coke was all rum with some coke for colouring. Too strong for gentle and sweet Sabrina, but good enough for me!

Well, we headed out to the dancefloor and had a good time. We went up to the DJ and requested some Kevin Lyttle, hoping they'd play at least ONE calypso song. To our surprise, the DJ did. Playing Rupee and serious amounts of reggae tunes. Here you can see me and Sabrina dancing a little.

Then later, Tricia took her camera and took a 30 second clip of me dancing without me knowing. In the clip you can see me grab Sabrina to dance along with me. Click here or on the graphic below:

While we were dancing, we met some other people who happened to be enjoying the music as much as we were. Their names where Vianney and Ben, two co-workers who just happened to go out and have some fun. We were dancing with them a little and had some jokes together. They were mad cool. There was this other girl pictured on the left who was grabbing Ben to go and dance with her while her man was gone for a bit, but Ben wouldn't budge. I was beside Ben taking a breather when she then grabbed me. I went out and represented. She had a good time dancing with me for a bit. When her boyfriend returned, him and I gave eachother the eye acknowledgement and I slowly moved back to dancing with Sabrina and Tricia.

The club finished playing music around 1:30am and started turning the lights on. Tricia and Sabrina are not used to this back in Toronto, but it was just how things were out here in LA. We definitely had a great time.
