CK AND PALS HIT UP TWO HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARTIES! |
We've been planning it for weeks -- to go out and hit up as much costume parties as we could. The first one was happening at the York University Underground Pub on the Thursday, getting a leg up on the other parties happening on the actual day of Hallowe'en. I was forewarned by Camron (the bartender at the Underground) to come very early, or else risk being turned away....
Well, it was myself, Frank, Treeesh, Kevin, Ron and Natasha that met up first at the Hideout Lounge to get some pre-drinks going on. We then headed to the York Pub around 10:30pm. When we arrived, it was complete bedlam. There were two ridiculously long lines and almost no organization for it. The security had their hands full with hooligans and line jumpers trying to wreck the evening for others. We witnessed at least 2 arrests and multiple wannabe thugs trying to talk smack to security. I really have to commend the security in how they handled things.
However, in the lineup, I got to meet some really cool people. 90% of everyone dressed up in some sort of costume, or made an effort. There were some people that just didn't bother. While in line, I met a guy that dressed up as Hulk Hogan, a few witches, a samurai, a vampire and a cat. Cats seemed to be very popular with the girls.
Anyways, after waiting for about an hour in line, we get right to the door, and the bouncer says that he can only allow 10 more people in. However, we'd have to give him $100 for him to allow us to go in. Our group scrounged up whatever cash we had and gave it to him. (it wasn't $100, but he didn't look anyways when it was passed into his hand) We go through the security check and now we get to the entrance gate to pay another $5. That's when someone pulled the fire alarm and they had to evacuate everyone. We stood in the outdoor smoking section for another 20 minutes before we gave up and went to plan B -- Philthy McNasty's.
On our way to Plan B -- we take a walk through York Lanes. We spot other people dressed up and talk with them. There was this guy and girl, dressed up as Xerxes and a Sailor. I found their costumes hilarious, so I wanted to take a pic of them. Once I started, others joined in. There was this group of asian students that were snapping away and posing with us. It was quite a scene.
So we head to the next pub, luckily we had a hookup at the door so we wouldn't have to pay the $5 cover. We got in and it was a big party. Everyone was dressed up and having fun on the dancefloor. There were prizes being given away for the top 3 fav costumes. Frank and I danced it up and had a good time. We caught the attention of 2 girls that dressed up as "THING No.1 and THING No.2" -- they won the contest for best costume... they danced with Frank and I during their celebration.
We had a blast dancing and it was a great night dressed up in a costume!
