TORONTO GRAND PRIX, ELECTRONIC MUSIC FEST, MODELEXPO!!!
My former roomate, Alex flew in from Los Angeles to spend the weekend with me in Toronto. There was so much to do in the little time that we had.
The main agenda was to go to the Toronto Grand Prix, Toronto Street Festivals and the Electronic Music Festival -- all of which were kicking off on the same day! So we first went to the Grand Prix --- by which I actually FOUND free tickets while I was at the gas station. They were just there on the pavement, nobody around!
I drove to Dundas/Yonge and parked in the Ryerson building. From there we hopped on the TTC and got Day passes, which would definitely come into use with all the travelling we'll be doing around the city.
We get to the Grand Prix, and find out the main race doesn't happen until Sunday --but to our surprise, the Grand Prix is a huge, huge event with all sorts of cars and performances. Thanks to my camera not wanting to work out of all the days, I miss out on a lot of perfect photos. Alex, brought his as well, but forgot to charge it the night before.
Soo... I have very little pics.. but a good amount of video, which you can see below here:
In the clip above you will see us starting out at the Toronto Street Festval, which was in the area where we parked. Then we headed down towards the Toronto Grand Prix. At there you see us looking at cars and neat things. One of the cool things was us getting our faces etched in a mini plastic cube. In the video you'll see ALex sitting down in a chair while a big camera takes a pic of him at 3 different angles. This gives the computer enough information to make an almost 3D rendering of him in a little cube of plastic. You can get one done for yourself by going here: http://www.crystallizeit.com.
We also found a TVTropolis booth where we got free magnets and keychains. The people at the booth were sooo cool and nice. It was mainly a place to advertise the new tv channel and their programming. In the video above, you'll see that the TVTropolis people took photos of our heads and superimposed ALex and I in an episode of Seinfeld and Married With Children. You can do that yourself at this web address: http://www.dropintotvtropolis.com.
After that, you'll see some custom cars with hydralics that we saw and then a snippet of one of the races we did get to see.
One of the highlights I did manage to capture was meeting the girls from the Model Expo happening there. We got in a lineup, received a free poster and then got to meet models who autographed it. They were also trying really hard to earn your vote into making them the people favorite model contest that they were having. Some models looked like they signed enough... and some were still full of energy and wanted your vote. One particular one was Ann. She was willing to do anything.. even take pics with you to earn your vote. I was lucky enough to even get her on my video camera as you can see here:
Here cK meets ANN, a model contestant for the People's Choice Award in ModelExpo 2006.
Below are some of the pics I did get to take before the camera ran out of power.
