cK's Super Birthday Weekend!

cK's Amazing 3 Days of Dancing, Dining and Fun.

It was my friend, Simone's idea to celebrate our birthdays at Essence Nightclub where the Amnesia night was being held. Simone's birthday is on February 23rd, and mine is on February 24th.

All day I anticipated going out to party in the night, but the day was also filled with a lot of key moments. During the day, my co-workers made a nice little card for me, and were so excited to see me get it. The many text messages I received throughout the day were all heart warming. I can't forget the phone calls from Sally in Los Angeles and Dallin in Richmond Hill who both called to personally sing "Happy Birthday" to me. All of this was truly sweet and reminded me why I returned to the Great White North.

Well on that note, onto the party!!!
Because I invited most of my friends last minute, and it was (freezing) February, I promised that this night out was only Part 1 of the CrazyKelvin Birthday Jam. There will be a scheduled Part 2 in June, which I will have a "RE-Birthday" Party.

I picked up my friends, Kasper, Pearlie, Darcy, Jessica, Sophie and Nicole in the Impala and we parked at John/Richmond. We walked over to Essence where the lineup (at 10:30pm) was crazy long. Kasper saw somebody near the front of the line and got us in.

Admission was $10, which seemed decent. The Amnesia night was basically an old school vibe night, where they played hot tunes from like the 80's and 90's. DJ 'Starting From Scratch' was the man behind the tables keeping the crowd grooving.

Our group got our drink on, and waited for Simone and her pals to arrive. They arrived not too long after us, but we were already on the center of the dancefloor directly in front of the DJ. Simone's posse seemed like it was about 8 carloads! Half of which were my cousins!

Boyoh always likes to party large!

The club vibe was good. No haters, no people stepping on each other, all nice atmosphere. It was very crowded, but people were considerate and did not give other people screwface. There was a moment where DJ 'Starting From Scratch' stopped the music, and told everyone to be quiet. Apparently he lost a dear friend lately, and wanted everyone to pay their respects... and have 15 seconds of silence. Well, I think they would have if he didn't keep interupting every 3 seconds saying, "Ya'll are ignorant!" I think he had a little too much to drink by that moment, but as alcohol does, it made him over-emotional.

At the end while some of my friends were getting their jackets back from coat check, I was waiting in the stairway. DJ Starting From Scratch came to me and apoligized for his behaviour on the mic. He told me he knew it was my birthday and he was really sorry. I think that was really cool of him.
It was my first "Amnesia" Jam.. and it couldn't have been better. We had a fantastic time. To all of those who could not make it, do not feel bad - the super PART 2 will be happening in June!

Red Lobster Lunch
Saturday, February 25, 2006

The Demetrioff Family - Pearlie, Darcy and their mom, Shirley wanted to take me out for lunch to Red Lobster to celebrate my birthday. I thought that was really nice and generous of them. Pearlie ordered the monster size dacquiris. I wasn't sure if I could handle this oversized alcoholic deep freeze, but the glutton program in my head was activated and before I knew it, I did finish it.

Man, as you can see I polished off that dacquiri! Pearlie and Darcy gave me a Limited Edition 'Oh! Henry' chocolate bar and a special birthday card that has "the Rock" on it.

Dinner With Robin
In the evening, my friend, Robin invited me out for a birthday dinner at the "Marche" in the BCE Place in downtown Toronto. It was lots of fun choosing what we wanted to eat. To be special, I had quail. It was actually quite good if you have never had one. Robin and I haven't seen eachother since the new year started and we had a lot of catching up to do. She insisted we have a cafe au lait (coffee) and some chocolately something cake for dessert. I don't know what it is with girls and desserts, but they sure know a lot about them! Robin went out of her way to find a candle there, so I could blow it out and make a wish. That was really sweet.

Umm... Wow! Happy Birthday...cK!!!

Dancing At Club Metro
After dinner, Robin and I walked through the underground PATH to University Ave. We were planning to walk the rest of the way, but once we were on street level, we could see that it was snowing quite hard. The snow was that fluffy nice snowboarding type of snow. We toyed with the idea of going to Nathan Phillips Square after clubbing and go ice skating on the rink. Robin's hair wasn't going to be too proper after 10 more minutes of this, so we jumped in a cab and then headed to Club Metro. Robin had already arranged for guestlist, so we didn't have to pay anything. There were 2 main rooms. One room was more airy and open, playing a mix of house and commericial dance tracks. The other room, was more tight and played more hip hip and reggae music. I met a lot of Robin's aquaintances and chilled. I danced by the wall because frankly there was no space to dance on any floor! When I did get a chance to dance, I took the few pics:

Dance, Robin!! Dance!!

The night was cool, we bounced around 1:30am and I got home around 3am.

Sunday At The Movies
Sunday, February 26, 2006

First thing in the morning, I attend a church service with The Big Black Machine. I just thought it would be nice to fill that spiritual element of my birthday. It was a good service and I met some nice new people as I was leaving.

After service, TBBM and I were starving. We felt that Denny's would be perfect and spent the next 30 minutes searching for one until we gave up. We spotted a Shoeless Joe's and had a bite to eat there. They too, also treated me to a free chocolate dessert!! This is insane!! I liked it, but man, I'm trying to keep off the sugar!!
Contract Negotiations Over a Chocolate Cake!

After the lunch with The Big Guy, I leave to meet N8 Dogg and we go to see BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE 2 at the Collossos Movie Cineplex. N8 treated me to the movie.

The movie itself was hilarious. The critics gave it bad reviews but I don't think that this movie was aiming for an Academy here. I feel that I am the target demographic and this movie made me laugh repeatedly. I laughed so hard at times, I fell out of my seat. I don't want to overhype the movie for you reading this, but I enjoyed it, because I knew it was going to be silly, and expected it to be.

Overall -- the birthday was amazing. It is EXACTLY why I came to Toronto. Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this birthday special for me. I really appreciate it.

Look forward to the JUNE --- RE-BIRTHday Jam!!
