cK Goes To See Russell Peters

Nobody was immune from being a target!

My dear friend, Natasha surprised me weeks back in September asking me to mark off October 22 on my calender. She wouldn't tell me for what, just that I make sure that I don't make any plans on that day. So I did. Natasha didn't tell me that she had a ticket for Russell Peters --- which sold out in an hour --- until days before the event.

I met up with Natasha, along with her cousins, Rea and Nyla who brought their boyfriends, Jevan and Nish. We had a drink at "On The Curve" which was in the Square One area close to the venue. After getting aquainted with everyone, we all went over to the theatre.

It was a very packed crowd that came to see the comedians, all sorts of backgrounds and ethnicities.

So there we were.... 4th row... center...
I knew that if Russel caught a sight of me -- it would be OVER. So there are some other comics that come out before the main headliner. The first comic to to come out and warm up the crowd was a comedian from Hamilton by the name of Scott Harris. From looking at him at first glance, you are not sure what kind of material he was going to use, but you learn fast that he's pretty much a straightshooter and talks about being 40+. I admit it, he was funny.

After him was comedian, Jean Paul. He has appeared on Comedy Network's "The Buzz". Paul's humour was based about him being from Trinidadian parents and such. His comedy was okay, not really belly buster jokes.

Next up was Debra Digiovanni. This girl was crazy funny to me. She mainly made jokes about herself, which was quite funny. An italian-Canadian Toronto girl that has wit, and hates everything about 'skinny girls'. I found her very amusing.

There was a brief intermission and then Scott Harris warmed up the crowd again before Russell Peters took the stage. We were not allowed to take pictures of the performance, so I had to be real sneaky with my camera phone to get the pics that I took.

Russell Peters came on stage and had all new material. He talked about his travels around the world, and the people he has met. Also, of course found some time to find fun of all ethnicities present in the building! Nobody was left out. I can't repeat the jokes, because I don't think that would be fair, you would have to see him yourself.

These are the pics that I took:

read this interview. i think that russel peters should watch his mouth because the way he talks about india is soo ignorant. i respect his views but he could express the way he feels in a nicer manner. i am shocked. i used to be one of his fans. and it HURTS me to read that comment. being a punjabi and listening to how he talks about other indians treats anglo-indians.

What interview?

That was a a comedy sketch and it was frickin funny. A nicer way?? It's a comedy routine .. about HIMSELF and his people. Dude I'm Indian and so is cK and RP has only ever spoken the truth. I guess you just liked it when he made fun of other races. Chill out and take some time to laugh at yourself, cuz even if we're "supposed" to be strict, we are a damn funny race. Be proud and be strong enough to take a damned joke.
