cK Takes Over Art Gallery of Ontario
TORONTO, Ontario - It was a moment in history for the AGO. A place that has been an institution for Canadian art since 1900. On August 12th, CrazyKelvin debuted his art installation in the inTENsion exhibit with a huge turnout and reception.
The exhibit, which runs until December 2009, showcases 6 artists that were involved in a video residency at the Art Gallery of Ontario. CK not only has his own art installation, but also guest stars as a lead role in another that was shot inside the museum.
At the opening, cK alongside the Big Black Machine were welcomed to cheers from the audience that was present. After introducing the exhibit and speaking a little about the work, the dynamic duo took a group of 30 on a personal walking tour to the installation in the gallery.
Everyone present was very excited and thrilled to be a part of this moment, just as the artists were. CK was beside himself and could not believe that he had come this far as an artist to be recognized for his creativity.
What is also quite possibly a first, CK is involved in 3 completely separate installations that are running at the same time, inside the AGO. The first one, is his very own which is in the Salle Young Gallery entitled, "Wall of Valour". The second one he is the lead role in a piece entitled, "The Message", which is also in the Salle Young Gallery. The third installation that CK is involved in is located on the concourse level of the gallery and was with the "Urban Sasquatch Protection Network" where he can be seen in the videos playing assorted roles.
